Why It's Good to be an Intuitive

embody Aug 16, 2022

I enjoy a sense of freedom and trust in my life, but it also reminds me when I need to challenge myself.

It was in 2016 that this label became attached to me. As intuition gathers momentum and people begin to explore a more intuitive approach to life, I love how this approach to life empowers people and enables them to take responsibility for their lives. I enjoy a sense of freedom and trust in my life, but it also reminds me of when I need to challenge myself.

What is being an Intuitive?

I always loved reading the subtle movements, patterns and undertones of communication. My Dance and Culture degree exhibited my natural skill to know someone's music preference by the way that they moved, and these two choices say a lot about someone's inner rhythm for life, passions and approaches to living.

An INTUITIVE is someone who consciously perceives the world around them without the need for logic or reasoning. Often referred to as gut instinct, it is a simple knowing of something or experiences around you.

Studies have shown that gut instinct occurs before the brain rationalises external circumstances. The intuitive sense is formed of subconscious memories with readings of subtle cues in external and internal sensory inputs into your body. From this, your body has a fast, natural reaction to reading the situation and informing you what is the best choice.

This does not mean that intuition is always right, but it means that it often has a broader perception of what is going on around you than when you have rationally considered what is likely a less broad set of data from your conscious considerations. Other lifestyle factors affect gut health, which can also throw off our gut guidance. This is where my Purity Body Release supports restoration for clear and healthy intuitive guidance.

EVERYONE IS CAPABLE OF BEING AN INTUITIVE. IT IS A QUESTION OF BALANCING YOUR MIND AND GUT. THIS IS AN ACTIVE CHOICE FOR BALANCED LIVING.

Not a Sensitive Empath

After my head injury, I was unable to filter sensory input. It meant that a great deal of my time had to be invested in retraining my brain to 'filter' most of the world around me. One of these sensory inputs was other people's feelings. Like when you walk into a room and someone is in a terrible mood, you feel it. I had that all the time.

The overwhelm left me feeling too empathic to others and I was wary of socialising. As I read about empaths and being 'sensitive' I felt that this disempowered me. I took Gestalt therapy to help with my reintegration back into office life - where all those people in a confined space were emotionally overwhelming.

During Gestalt Therapy, the discussion that switched my perspective on being an empath was the feeling that everyone in the office permeated my membrane of personal space with their emotions and wants. Yet, when I taught a class I could use this sensitivity to cultivate a class that worked for everyone. I could put in place barriers that protected me when I taught as I was in control of the room, dynamic and experience.

I do not want to feel out of control or that I need to control the world around me

ACCEPT THAT YOU CAN NOT CONTROL EVERYTHING, BUT YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR CHOICE OF HOW YOUR INNER WORLD FEELS IN RESPONSE.

Be Empowered and Cultivate your Intuition

For me, becoming empowered in my intuition removed the disempowerment I felt as an empath. Growth can be painful and scary, so it is important to do it in ways that support you best.

Teaching on retreats and workshops is me at my best. My themes are selected from my clients and experiences that I can share with honesty. In class, I adapt the movements, points and visualisations to reflect the needs of the group. Through the conscious connection of my theme, knowledge, readings of the people and intentions for us all I allow my intuition to tailor the moment.

No class is ever the same. I cannot predict what will happen or how it will turn out. Often it resonates with various people in different ways. What a blessing to witness how each of us interprets an experience in our own unique way.

INTUITION REFLECTS THE CONSTANT OF CHANGE. IT REFLECTS THE GROWTH AND BALANCE OF YOUR INNER AND OUTER WORLDS.

Intuition Builds Trust

As my intuition grew, I noticed a shift in my trust. There was more clarity and certainty as to how I felt about my choices. Even if full of fear that I was able to rationalise my choices and see that they were the best choice for me both instinctively and rationally.

When I stopped to check in with how I feel about something from my intuition I notice an overriding feeling of 'YES!' When doubt and worry begin to wander into my mind, I stop and take the time to update my intuitive reading - am I on the aligned path? Is this best of me right now? If it has changed, then I course correct. This takes a matter of minutes and seconds when you practice regularly.

This trust shifts some of those dark clouds of negativity. The depressed mind that doubts all abilities of good choices and doomed failure begins to lose its hold. The space it contains becomes smaller in your mind and body, as YES spreads out.

WHEN YOU FEEL YOU HAVE NO CHOICE, YOU DO. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO PERCEIVE LIFE FROM SMALL STEPS TOWARDS HEALTH, HAPPINESS AND LOVE. CHOOSE WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BEST IN THE MOMENT AND YOU WILL BEGIN TO TRUST YOUR INTUITION.

Growing Pains of Intuition

Sometimes intuition pushes your boundaries. Your inner guide knows when you are ready to grow. It will push you to a choice that scares you. Intuition is a ‘yes’ that propels you forward through both BEING still and taking courageous ACTION.

I love to leave myself in the unknown. From leaving the UK with only $2,000 saved and no plans of where to live or what to do - I followed my intuition! I discovered that when I listened to my ‘not sure’ and did not action it made space for me to discover what my heart wanted for me. I would act when I felt that calm resounding ‘yes’ inside my being. I have taken many risks over these years and falling only makes me discover how much higher I can fly beyond my wildest imagination.

LIKE A FLEDGLING, LET YOUR INTUITION TAKE YOU HIGHER AND JUMP INTO THE AIR TRUSTING YOU WILL LIFT YOURSELF AT THE MOMENT MOST NEEDED.
