The 4 Steps to Surrender

embody Mar 08, 2022

Change can come slowly or suddenly. Most humans like the slow approach, but when the Universe seems to ask us to change more quickly how can we take the quantum leap whilst staying in our authority? With the power of surrender and a muscle we can train!

What is surrender?

When we surrender we give up everything to all the possibilities and allow something beyond our mind to come forth. This is a mind-blowing experience. It is why surrendering seems so hard.

Surrender is not the opposite to control. The opposite of control is submission where we may feel resigned or dissatisfied with the situation, basically unaccepting of the situation. This is disempowering and has an energy of lack.

To surrender is a conscious act of self-power, commitment and courage through choice and acceptance of the present moment and situation. It requires a full commitment, will, and release. We can practice the stages in small moments of life to ease the flow of transition.

Step 1: Self-Control

Practice self-control with a mindful sense focused practice for 2 minutes throughout the day. Become aware of your own sensory experience and how it changes. Witness your experience as an observer.

Step 2: Develop Will Power

Thought retraining is awareness of our thoughts and to change the pattern that we take to a new more open expansive perspective. When we focus on a situation and think our way to outcomes or problem-solving, we are not open in our will.

Think of big, happy, awe-inspiring questions to ask about your situation. Go bigger. Go beyond ideas and just ask.

Step 3: Courageous Action or Stillness

The courage to act or standstill. For what happens when we are still? Most of us need to stand still and not do, but allow the gift to come through in our stillness.

Step 4: Let it go

Give it all up. Stop focusing on the issue or thoughts, return to your self-control, develop your willpower and have the courage to be still, then give it up. Repeat and repeat until it is given up.
