Clear Thought Yoga Nidra (Antaur Mouna)

embody Jan 16, 2023

Thought stillness is impossible, right? Even the Dalai Lama says that he has thoughts. The training with our thoughts is to choose them, to cultivate our own thoughts consciously as a part of creating our reality. This practice is inspired by the traditional yoga meditation antaur mouna to cultivate thought stillness. You won’t attain this but we begin the training here. Discover more benefits of this yoga nidra below.

How can this yoga nidra practice help you?

Designed to connect to the mind and third eye, this practice is focused on the mind and thoughts. Possible benefits include:

  1. To calm the mind and thoughts.
  2. The opening of the third eye welcomes insights, Higher Self or intuitive guidance.
  3. Become aware of or develop your psychic senses - such as clear knowing, clear seeing or clear hearing.
  4. To discover limiting thoughts or belief patterns that you can process and clear.
  5. To practise ending a thought when you become aware of it and choose to stop the loop of thinking at will.
  6. To create thoughts that benefit you and others.

What does this practice contain to create these benefits?

The practice includes Nid’s usual settling phases of intention to practise with awareness, to connect to a safe space, and to create a sankalpa (heart-felt resolution). We then move into:

  • Nid’s unique and deep mind relaxation rotation of body consciousness. This rotation focuses on the key sense areas, with extra time in the head for those ‘busy minds’. This is important to ground the mental into the intimate inner sense awareness of a grounded body. Cultivating safety for the mind to relax.
  • Breath awareness at the third eye centre deepens the connection to this energy centre and the body-mind bridge to our energetic and Higher Self.
  • Control of thought through ‘dashing’ thoughts as they appear. This is a foundational stage of the antaur mouna meditation training for thought stillness. There is a longer option of this practice that includes choosing to have thoughts too, if you join the Embody Life Sanctuary here.
  • Creation of thought with suggested affirmations close the practice to demonstrate to the deep subconscious mind the type of thoughts that you would enjoy.
